2010  SICILY GRAND PRIX

Mondello, Sicily, Italy
 20th to 23rd May 2010

An International Windsurfing Association sanctioned event

In total 89 competitors registered for the 2010 Sicily Grand Prix in Mondello, 11 of these were Raceboarders.  In all, the competitors represented 10 countries and 4 continents - with racers from Argentina, New Zealand and Tunisia joining the European nations present. Techno 293 class had the largest entry with 45 competitors - joined by 33 RS:X.

Two further races were completed on the final day of the 2010 Sicily Grand Prix,  making a total of four. Although 3 races were scheduled for the day there was not sufficient wind mid afternoon to call out the racers for the third race. This meant any mistakes over the past 2 days would be costly as there were no discards allowed.

The final battle on Raceboard changed completely the provisional ranking fixed the day before: the Slovak Patrik Pollak overtook the former leader Italian Alessandro Alberti. Paco Wirz, the evergreen Italian won both final races and showed his never-lost superb skill, even in absence of a regular training.
