Competition/2011/Masters Europeans
2011 Raceboard Masters European Championships
22-28 October 2011 - Cagliari, Sardinia, ItalyResults
Fernando Lamadrid is European Masters Champion
|
 |
After 5 days of racing, and 12 races competed in wide range of
conditions, Fernando Lamadrid (ESP 951) emerged as European Masters Champion. It
was a very close battle between Fernando and second placed Franck Luop (FRA58)
with only one point separating them at the close of racing. Races won went in
favour of the Spaniard - 6 to 5. Bronze medal winner Frank Spoettel (GER 114)
took the other race win, and sailed a consistent series to make the final podium
place.
Challenging conditions faced the masters fleet - not only were the
conditions difficult, with strong winds and big swell on two days, but a new
course posed fresh challenges.
Sharing course B with the RS:X youth also meant mastering the slalom
finish favoured by the olympic class!
Claudio Alessandrello, Race Officer, masterminded the efficient race
committee; and Windsurfing Club Cagliari played perfect host for the week long
windfest.
The race area for the Windsurfing Cagliari
2011 Techno 293 and Raceboard Championships will be 0.5 miles E-SE from the
Marina Piccola harbour and just 0.2 miles off Poetto beach.
