Competition/2011/Singapore Open SIM 30th SINGAPORE OPEN WINDSURFING CHAMPIONSHIP 12th to 16th January 2011 National Service Resort & Country Club Sea Sports Centre
The 3rd day of the SIM 30th Singapore Open Asian Windsurfing Championships started off with 8-12 knots of winds blowing in the North East direction and marked the start of races for Raceboard, Formula and Slalom. The 3 classes saw a combined total of 50 over competitors taking part. The SIM Windsurfing Championships also got underway as tertiary students from around the island converged to take part. The final day of the SIM 30th Singapore Open Asian Windsurfing Championship saw strong winds which allowed the Slalom classes to be out in full force. Raceboard Class is invited to take part in the SIM 30th Singapore Open Windsurfing Championship, hosted by Windsurfing Association Singapore from 12th to 16th January 2011.
Started in 1980, the Windsurfing Association Singapore was previously known as the Board Sailing Association Singapore. In 2008, the Association was renamed as the Windsurfing Association Singapore as part of the committee's effort to rebrand itself and remain relevant. An annual competition organized by the Association, the Singapore Open Windsurfing Championship is the biggest event on the local windsurfing calendar. Attracting more than 130 local and foreign competitors from all over Asia and the world, the Championship is already into its 29th year. The 2011 and 30th edition will, in addition to the Asian Championships for T293, RS:X and MOD, include a course racing event for Raceboard and Formula, a slalom event for Funboards (IFCA) and the usual introduction sessions to windsurfing and tuning clinics.
