After what turned out to be a fantastic and varied 13 races over four days of racing, competitors were well and truly fatigued.

The complete range of conditions that were experienced meant that the winners were a true indication of the best all round sailors at the event.

The competition was tight, with many categories and battles for overall position coming down the results in the final day of racing and the dynamics of the second drop.

Congratulations to all prize winners and to all competitors for completing a challenging, but thoroughly enjoyable event. Other than great racing, there was great company, and a fun social atmosphere.

Thanks goes to the Georges River Sailing Club for hosting the event and to all the volunteers who helped out crewing the start and course boats. A big thank you also goes to Shore Manager Trish Nelson and Principle Race Officer Nick Nelson.

Hopefully the momentum from the event this year can build into next year.

2014 Raceboard Oceanic Championships is back on Botany Bay in Sydney

The location for the 2014 Raceboard Oceanic Championships is back on Botany Bay in Sydney. One of the glamour locations for Sydney windsurfing and suitable in all directions of wind; this is one of Australia's premier racing locations.

The championship takes place from 24th to 27th January and will be hosted at the Georges River Sailing Club. The event includes the 2014 Australian Raceboard Championships, and over the 25th /26th will also include the NSW State titles for Windsurfer One Design and Original Windsurfer.

In Summertime, Botany Bay enjoys mostly 10-15 knot gradient winds each day, with the possibility of seabreezes around 15 - 25 knots (although winds can be stronger up to 30 knots at times); perfect for windsurfing! With average daytime temperatures of 25-33 degrees, spectators and competitors alike can expect to enjoy the brilliant sunshine almost every single day in January.
