Max on the Worlds in the Czech Republic
- "It was one of the most successful Raceboard Championship events. 110 competitors from all over the world is just one of many proofs that this class is growing. Why? My personal opinion is that it will keep growing as we, competitors, are enjoying it very much. The competition, except of great racing and organizing skills, was full of small but nice things such as paddle board competition, climbing competition, unofficial table soccer world championship, almost everyday grill, free lunch in between races, lottery for all competitors (every second competitor won a prize!), on time races, great atmosphere, even greater organizers and last but not least, happy hour with free bar!
I am amazed how little we adults need to have as much fun as children. But first we need to put our self in a situation without roles, such as mr important manager, CEO, lawyer etc. Once we put on wetsuits, we create new, better, more pleasurable environment. When that happens, even when we take off our wetsuits after races, the positive energy is still there - a miracle of raceboard class.
One doctor, a raceboard competitor once told me, that being on water makes her forget about all the worries in the world. When I asked her why, she answered: "there are so many things going on, there is no time for anything else"....
Wojcik Retains World Championship Title!
No doubt about it, light winds are definitely more suited to Max Wojcik (POL-7) than to Patrik Pollak (SVK-1) as Max claimed all three bullets in the last three championship races and thus takes the title of 2013 Raceboard World Champion.
Tension mounted as the start of the day's races was delayed waiting for the wind to appear but eventually conditions similar to the previous day allowed for two good championship races, and then a third in perhaps marginal conditions but enough to count towards the championship. Definitely a day for light wind specialists.
Max has thrashed the competition finishing on 9 points, a clear 8 points ahead of Patrik who floundered in the light wind conditions but nonetheless claims the First Master Trophy as well as second overall. Brit Louis Morris managed to maintain his foothold on the third place on the podium with a consistently strong performance throughout the championship.
Juha Blinnikka from Finland deserves a mention as the first Grandmaster, fellow compatriot Mai Mannisto was the first Veteran. First Youth was Nikl Andras from Hungary.
Over in the Women's Fleet, overnight leader Czech Jana Slivova lost her position at the top of the leaderboard and slipped down to second, whilst Latvian Vita Matise edged past with three bullets taking her just one point ahead of Jana at the close of the championship, earning her the title of 2013 Raceboard Women's World Champion. Consequently Martina Hruba was left to take a well deserved third place on the podium.
The organisers have put on an amazing event on behalf of the Czech Windsurfing Association, providing great entertainment when the wind gods didn't want to come out to play, and all at DYJE Sailing Club have been wonderful hosts. The Race Committee have done an excellent job in trying conditions and have provided the maximum amount of racing possible.
Special thanks of course go to sponsors Generali, Rubio and a whole host of other partners who have ensured that such a high quality event could be delivered.
Men's Qualifying Series Completed!
Three races today making a total of 7 in the qualifying series, with 6 to count. Race five started on time after the 10 am warning signal with racers taking to the water in 8-10 knots of stable wind and glorious sunshine. Race six followed before a break for the pasta lunch, then race seven was away in the afternoon. At the end of the day's racing the men's fleet was divided into gold and silver fleets for the remainder of the championship.
Past champions Patrik Pollak and Wojcik Maksymilian are on equal points with 6 race wins apiece, ranked first and second respectively on the leaderboard purely by their discard. It's going to be a tough battle between them for the World Championship 2013 title!
It will also be a close fight for Great Britain's Louis Morris and Czech Petre Kucera jr for the third position on the podium, both having very consistent results, just one point separating them. Spaniard Curro Manchon will also be joining this fight, if he can recover from the disappointing OCS he scored in race 7, and others close behind Curro are still in with a chance and will be pushing hard. All to play for!!
In the Women's Division, Jana Slivova has a very healthy lead with 3 race wins under her belt and half the points of her closest rivals fellow Czech Martina Hruba and Latvian Vita Matise. Vita also has three race wins but sadly carries a DNC from day one. She really needs to lose that as a second discard to stand a chance of the Women's title.
Just one Championship racing day remains. Will the wind gods be kind enough to make a difference?

Two days with no wind for racing
Two days of no wind has meant no racing. However, the organisers have ensured competitors have been entertained with a climbing contest on inflatable ISOLINE wall, presentation of JetSurf, paddleboarding, a barbecue in the party tent and with a lucky dip, the main prize being a JetSurf . . . and much more.

Day 2 for racing began with an early skippers meeting at 08.30. The forecast delivered by the Principal Race Office, Jan Blahonovsky, was not encouraging - little or no wind was today's likely conditions, and it was exactly what we got!
However, the organisers were not complacent and offered a series of SUP races in the afternoon with the support of one of the many sponsors lined up for this event.

The PRO decided to call an end to the wait for racing at 1700; and sailors were released for the day to go and prepare for the Wine Tasting Evening, to be followed by the Raceboard Class Annual General Meeting. Another full day here at the World Championships on Nove Mlyny, Pavlov, in the Czech Republic!
Skippers meeting tomorrow at 09.00 and first possible warning signal at 10.00.
A full day of racing on day 1 of Raceboard World Championships
With a near record entry of 110 competitors and 4 races completed the 2013 Raceboard World Championships have had an impressive start. It is also the first major windsurfing championships to be hosted in the Czech Republic and national riders have responded magnificently with the top 2 women in the overall ranking at the end of day 1, and 2 men in the top 8.
At the morning briefing the competitors were advised of difficult racing conditions, at least for the first part of the day, with strong winds and sudden gusts expected. That is exactly what happened during the morning session - two races 'back to back' in winds between 14 and 28 knots. A third of the men's fleet remained ashore and only 3 women were able to complete the 2 races.
However, after the break the majority of the fleet were able to complete the 2 'back to back' races scheduled for the afternoon.
The qualifying series for men has ensured that it is a close contest at the top, as the overall rankings at the close of the day illustrate. Leading the way are past and current world champions - Patrik Pollak ( Slovakia) and Max Wojcik (Poland) with 3 race wins each. Another race winner, Petr Kucera jr from the Czech Republic, is in 3rd place. But not far behind is the chasing pack of top raceboarders from Great Britain, Argentina, Spain, France, and Portugal - no less than 8 countries represented in the top 10. The mens fleet will be reseeded into new groups for racing on day 2.
Over in the women's fleet Jana Silvova has a clear lead over fellow Czech Martina Hruba; however the last 2 races of the day were won by Vita Matise, also a world champion, who was able to master the lighter conditions later in the day, but struggled in the morning session.
World Championships ready to go!
One of the biggest Raceboard World Championships of recent times is ready to kick off on the Nove Mlyny Reservoir on Tuesday 3 September with 112 racers from 14 countries and 4 continents.
The forecast favours light wind specialists but World Champion, Maksymilian Wojcik, who stormed the 2012 Worlds in Finland, is back to defend his title, along with Slovakian Patrik Pollak, 2011 Champion.
The men will be divided into groups - blue and yellow - for a qualifying series before going into gold and silver groups for Championship titles.
A great flag ceremony opened the event followed by a dinner with traditional Moravian music to accompany the meal along with free beer and local wines.

Useful information for the upcoming World Championship to be held in Nove Mlyny 2nd - 7th September 2013.
Yacht Club Dyje Breclav
To all participants of the World Championship 2013 Raceboard there is a possibility to stay in the camping side in the Yacht Club Dyje. There is no need to make reservation. The fee 70CZK (apx. 3 EUR) / day / person and the electricity must be paid to the club. The other costs are included in entry fee (cars, trailers, boards). Competitors living outside the Yacht Club do not pay any fees (neither for car) and they will get the parking card from the organiser. The accompanying persons may pay 250CZK (10 EUR) for having access to the Yacht club during the Championship.
Meals and drinks
Competitors will be supplied with water and energy bars, after racing they will have fast food noodles and there is organised dinner on Monday, Thursday and Saturday in party tent in the Yacht Club. The accompanying persons can buy dinners during the registration or during the whole week in info point. Every day there will be happy our in main party tent for all competitors (free beer and redbull). On Wednesday there will be wine tasting in Bednar wine cellar.
Measurements
From Sunday afternoon 15 p.m. there will be already possibility to do the measurement procedure.
Insurance
Every competitor must have third party liability insurance. There will be possibility to buy the insurance during the registration.
The currency is Czech Crowns (1 EUR is apx. 25 CZK). There is a Cash dispenser at the reception of the Yacht Club.
Travel
If you are coming by air, we will pick you up from the airport. Please inform Sarka Bauerova of your arrival and departure times.
Important information for participants coming by car to venue - Yacht Club Dyje Breclav (village Pavlov) GPS: 48o52,723'N 16o40,686'E : In the Czech Republic you have to pay HIGHWAY TOLLS! There is possibility to buy 10 days vignette for 310CZK (car max. 3,5t). You can buy it at petrol station. If you go from Prague to Brno it is the best to drive in fast lane because the highway in left lane is damaged. Dear windsurfers, We are delighted to invite you to the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2013 in class RACEBOARD. The Czech Republic has the privilege of hosting this great event for the first time. The Czech Windsurfing Association has been carefully preparing the World Championship in cooperation with the hosting Yacht Club Dyje - Nove Mlyny and Rubio. Nove Mlyny lake has recently become the best windsurfing resort in the country and offers great wind conditions. This location provides competitors with good accommodation opportunities. There is a variety of pensions and hotels in the picturesque village Pavlov and historical town Mikulov, and a huge campsite right by the yacht club. Therefore, the Czech Windsurfing Association in cooperation with YC Dyje and Rubio would like to invite you all to a great windsurfing event - the World Championship in class RACEBOARD accompanied by various social events held at Nove Mlyny lake at the beginning of September 2013. |
EVENT INFO
COACH BOATS - Coach boats will be permitted to be on the water only if you apply coach boat before 30th May 2013 to organizer of the event. It is necessary to send e-mail to Sarka Bauerova with your requirements including type of boat, its number and type of engine.
CHARTER - There is a possibility to charter complete equipment under following conditions:
1. 350€ if you make booking before 28th February 2013
2. 450€ if you make booking after 28th February 2013 but no later than 9th March 2013 because after that it will not be possible to charter equipment from the organizer. In case you are interested in charter, please send your requirement to Sarka Bauerova.
EQUIPMENT FOR SALE - After the World Championship there will be a possibility to purchase one week used equipment. We will have more information soon.
ACCOMMODATION - We have made reservation of below mentioned accommodation. It is necessary to make binding reservation and down payment (50%) by 28th February 2013. After this date we will not be able to guarantee free capacity.

TRANSPORT - The organizer will ensure transport from the airport in Wien, Brno and Bratislava under advantegous conditions. Contact us by sending an email to Sarka Bauerova to make arrangements (meeting point and surveillance while waiting).
LIABILITY INSURANCE - Every participant must have valid liability insurance up to the amount of 1.000.000 euro. You can purchase an insurance at the registration office for the duration of the event.
The VENUE
YACHT CLUB DYJE is situated on the right bank of the 3rd Nove Mlyny lake.
ABOUT NOVW MLYNY LAKE - Nove Mlyny lake has recently become the best sailing resort in the country. Nove Mlyny consists of 3 lakes which were built by the river Dyje. The area of lakes is altogether 3 393ha. It was built to prevent floods. Pasohlavky is one of the most substantial centre for holidays. There you find camping Merkur where you can rent windsurf or bikes. The middle lake was declared to be sanctuary in year 1994. There are few artificial islands where many significant birds nest. On one of the islands you can find a Roman gothic church St. Linhart. Bottom lake is the largest lakes.
It is situated under the ruin called Divci hrady. There you can have great holiday, do sailing, kiting or windsurfing. You can visit many historical sightseeing around Nove Mlyny. One of the most famous UNESCO heritage is region Palava. It is the warmest and driest place in the Czech Republic. Another famous places are Lednice-Valtice grounds where you can visit large gardens, deep forest, huge vineyard and many ponds. There are also many historical monuments such as castles, temples, colonnades and many other monuments. This region also belongs to UNESCO heritage and there are many routes for bikes and educational trails.
About South Moravia - South Moravia is an economically important region, in a favourable position in the South-Eastern part of the Czech Republic. It borders Austria and Slovakia, and has always been a strategic crossroads in Europe. The South Moravian Region is fourth in size with its territory and third with its number of inhabitants among the other regions of the Czech Republic. This is where numerous towns and villages were born, during centuries, along its rivers, and where Christianity made its way into Europe. The slopes of the hills are covered by vineyards and orchards now, as they were then. To its visitors, the surrounding areas of Brno offer a varied range of cultural, natural, and technical sights; fans of modern architecture and lovers of Jewish heritage will also be pleased. Four local sights are entered in the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List. Due to the fertile position of the region, attractive folklore and wine tourism have a tradition here.
It is no coincidence that together with Prague and South Bohemia, the South Moravian Region belongs to the most visited regions of the Czech Republic.
