Sadly that's it, no more racing at Civitavecchia, so Sunday's three races constitute the Championship. Marco Baglione and Paco Wirz are therefore Youth and Masters Champions.

Marco Baglione Surges Ahead at Civitavecchia
Italian Marco Baglione has established a clear lead in the Youth Fleet with three bullets as storms have now subsided to allow three races on Day 2 of the Raceboard Youth and Masters Europeans at Civitavecchia.
Lorenzo Sabatini currently lies in second place but his position is not strong as Manfredi Misuraca, currently in fourth, just needs to discard his DNF in the third race having taken second in both race 1 and race 2. In third is Maurizio Fagigu but again, Luigi Romano with his two third places could be in with a chance once he discards his DNC in race 2.
So, whilst Marco may appear to be untouchable at the top, competition is hot!
Competition in the Masters Fleet is interesting. Paco Wirz ITA1 leads with a 1st and two seconds, but Alex Buchau ESP 36 and Slovakian Patrik Pollak both have 9 points, Frenchmen Philippe Hirtzmann and Ben Barnard both have 15. Ingard Borgel from Germany took first place in race 2 but DNC in the other two races mean relegation to 9th overall.

Bring it on Civitavecchia!!
Posted On: 22/03/2008 9:51:04 AM Civitavecchia Blown Out!
Competitors were warmly welcomed by the city of Civitavecchia during the opening ceremony following a colourful parade through the town. 7 countries are represented in the Raceboard fleets: ESP, FRA, GBR, GER, ITA, SUI and SVK but the overall competitor list, including techno sailors, numbers some 163 so it is a fantastic turnout. Click here to view full entry list.
The first day of racing began promptly. Strong winds were forecast but it was hoped that at least one race could be completed. However, organisers quickly realised that this would not be possible and sent competitors ashore as winds increased rapidly within half an hour to 25-30 knots, the sea began to build and rain squalls brought gusts of up to 35 knots!
Today, Saturday, Civitavecchia is still lashed by storms and conditions are horrendous. Organisers have already decided that there will be no racing today. We eagerly anticipate better conditions tomorrow.
