A light breeze on the last day allowed masters windsurf raceboards to go out and race in Lignano Sabbiadoro. Three races were completed which, when added to the four raced yesterday, introduced one discard. The hardest competition was in the 45+ category where victory went to Czech Pavel Hruby with five first and two second places, ahead of the Latvian Gundars Osis. In 55+ class, Polish Grzegorz Pinkonski won, second placed in Czech Mielec Lubomir. In the 35+ category first man is Daniele de Roia from Pordenone and in the women's event victory went to Triestine Monika Bulaj of Polish origins.  Grzegorz Pinkonski was the overall event winner.

Day Two - Four races, one of them with a good wind. After a whole day without racing, today windsurfs raced in Lignano Sabbiadoro thanks to summer breeze. First temporary rank for Czech Mielec Lubomir, with two seconds, one fourth and one first rank, followed by his country fellow Pavel Hruby with two thirds, one fourth and one second rank. Wednesday is the last day, aiming at having at least another race to introduce the gap in the final ranking.

Today (12 September) was the first day of 3 scheduled for the windsurfing event at the European Masters Games in Lignano Sabbiadoro,Friuli Venezia Gulia, north east Italy from 12th to 14th September. Competitors from Latvia, Poland, Czech Republic and Italy are competing for Masters Games titles. Last night the organisers presented a spectacular opening ceremony in the local stadium; marching, music, dance and fireworks display to end.

The racers were called to the water twice today - and both times sent back without a race.  The wind promised to deliver, then dropped. Despite being close to racing conditions - and raceboarders can start in the lightest winds of all windsurfing classes - there was no racing today.

There is another parade tonight - through the mainpart of the town; and a social event to follow.

Lignano Sabbiadoro is a modern seaside resort which rises from a beautiful peninsula on the Adriatic Sea and the Marano Lagoon.  Located between Trieste and Venice it has a 8km long beach with fine golden sands; modern hotels and sports facilities. The city has been hosting top international sports events for many years and this multi sport masters games is the latest to benefit.
