Paco crowned European Champion
Posted On:  09/08/2003 19:04:02

Paco Wirz (ITA1) cruised to victory in a wonderful 18 knot breeze today Beaten only once during the whole event and that by Paul Leone (GBR 1111) who closed his event by DNFing for the first time in his life. A crucial DNF it was too. It dropped him to 3rd overall. The beneficiary of his misfortune is Ryszard Pikul (POL 40) who scored a 2nd and 3rd in the stronger breezes today.

Jean Asia (FRA 1711), 1st grand master, finished a creditable 5th overall scoring a 3rd and a 5th today.

One could not have hoped for better conditions; better winds; better race committees or for that matter a happier atmosphere in which to compete.  This event will go down as a classic in the history of raceboarding and will encourage more to compete in Bulgaria next year (July 31st > Aug 6th)
