    Raceboard Worlds Final
    Posted On:  16/06/2012 15:58:21

Racing at the Raceboard Worlds is over. Final results are in.

After a long postponement it was only possible to do one race on the final day of the championships.  Early afternoon the postponement flag came down in anticipation of two races back to back which would give racers a second discard in a twelve race championship.

Race 11 got under way in 6-8 knots.  Max Wojcik, POL 7, was late leaving the beach and did not make the start allowing Patrik Pollak, SVK 1, to take the bullet in this race.

Race 12 was started but abandoned half way through - the wind dropped and became very unstable.

So, to the prizegiving.  Congratulations to Max Wojcik, POL 7, for regaining the title of Raceboard World Champion title with a perfect score.  Patrik Pollak, SVK 1, took second place overall and first Master, and Daniel Blinnikka, FIN 5, was third and also first Youth.  Juha Blinnikka, FIN-6, was first Grandmaster in 5th overall;  first Woman was Tuuli Petaja, FIN-1, 8th overall.

Our thanks go to the Yyteri Surfcentre and the Finnish Boardsailing Association who have once again proved to be excellent hosts.  The race team have pulled a great championship out of the bag with good tactical racing despite the fickle winds.
